Material packs

A material pack is a ready-made list of materials for an industry (names, descriptions, INCI, CAS, GHS pictograms, and calories). Load one into your company instead of typing every material by hand, or publish your own materials as a pack for other companies.

Where: the Pack store section at the bottom of Make → Materials (/materials). Everyone can browse and preview. Loading needs ADMIN, INVENTORY_CLERK, or PURCHASING. Publishing needs ADMIN. Reviewing needs GLOBAL_ADMIN.

Browse and preview

Heading Pack store: Browse industry material packs, preview them, and load them into this tenant.

  1. Open Materials and scroll to Pack store.
  2. Optional: type in Industry (placeholder Filter by industry). Matches the whole industry name.
  3. Each card shows the pack name, then industry · version · publisher · material count. The publisher is ReagentFlow for built-in packs, the company name if the publisher chose to show it, or Unattributed. A Research Use Only badge may appear.
  4. Choose Preview [pack] to see the materials in a table (Name, Description, INCI, CAS, GHS, Calories / unit) and any Sources links. Hide [pack] closes it.

Built-in packs

ReagentFlow provides built-in packs, shown with the publisher ReagentFlow: Candle Manufacturing, Soap Manufacturing, Baked Goods, and 3D Printing. For these four, the industry is the same as the pack name, so type the full name in Industry to filter to one. Built-in packs are in the store even when publishing company packs is turned off. The store may also list a research-use pack marked Research Use Only.

Empty: No public packs / No public packs are in the store yet. (or Nothing public matches this industry. when filtering). If the store is off: Pack store is not available yet / Public packs will show up here when the store is connected.

Load a pack

  1. Choose Load [pack]. The Load [pack] panel opens: Cancel leaves this tenant's materials unchanged.
  2. Read the summary: This pack has [n] materials. This tenant has [n]. [n] matches. A match is a material with the same name or CAS number. The name is checked first, then CAS. Each of your materials can match only one pack material.
  3. Under How should this pack meet your materials?, pick a mode (see below). Merge, pack wins is selected first.
  4. Read the counts line: Add [n], update [n], remove [n], skip [n].
  5. Choose Apply load (it reads Loading…), or Cancel load.

Success: Loaded. Added [n], updated [n], removed [n], skipped [n]. The materials list refreshes.

Load modes

  • Replace everything — Remove materials that are not in this pack, then add the pack. A material a SKU still uses is not removed. If any of those would be removed, nothing is loaded. You must type the pack name in Type [pack] to confirm. If SKUs block it: These materials are still on a SKU, so nothing was loaded: …
  • Merge, pack wins — Add pack materials you do not have. Where a name or CAS matches, the pack overwrites the public fields. Private notes, SDS, and images stay.
  • Update matches only — Update materials that match. New materials from the pack are skipped.
  • Ask for each match — Choose keep mine or use the pack for each match. Unmatched pack materials are still added.

Ask for each match

The panel steps through matches: Match [i] of [n] · [name or CAS], then Pack: [pack material]. Yours: [your material]. If your material is on a SKU, it notes that using the pack updates public fields and does not remove it.

  • Keep mine or Use pack for this match.
  • Keep mine for all remaining or Use pack for all remaining to finish quickly.
  • Previous match / Next match to move around.

With no matches: No matches. Unmatched pack materials will be added.

Publish your materials as a pack

When public publishing is turned on, admins see Publish my materials as a pack under the store.

  • Submitting sends this pack to Global Admin review. It is not public until a Global Admin approves it.
  • What becomes public is the name, description, INCI, CAS, GHS, and calories per unit.
  • Supporting data, storage notes, appearance, SDS, images, and storage class stay on this tenant.
  1. Fill Pack name and Pack industry.
  2. Tick the materials to include. Filter materials (optional; placeholder Name, CAS, INCI…) narrows the list; Select shown ticks everything shown and Clear unticks all.
  3. Optional: tick Show our company name on the public pack. Otherwise the pack shows as Unattributed.
  4. Choose Preview what becomes public and check the snapshot. Submit for review stays disabled until you preview the current selection.
  5. Choose Submit for review (it reads Submitting…). Success: [pack] is pending Global Admin review.

My packs

My packs lists what you submitted with a status: Draft, Pending Global Admin review, Public, Rejected (with Reason: …), or Withdrawn. A draft, pending, or public pack can be pulled with Withdraw [pack], then Confirm withdraw [pack] or Cancel. Empty: You have not submitted a pack.

Review submitted packs (global admin)

Sidebar: Admin → Pack review (/packs/review), also linked as Pack review from the Pack store. Role: GLOBAL_ADMIN. The sidebar item appears only when public publishing is turned on.

Description on screen: Approve only when the pack is valid and has no pornographic or violent content. Do not review accuracy or legality.

  1. Open Admin → Pack review.
  2. To publish, choose Approve [pack], then Confirm approve [pack] (it reads Publishing…). Success: [pack] is now public.
  3. To reject, fill Rejection reason for [pack] and choose Reject [pack]. Success: [pack] was rejected and was not published. The submitter sees the reason under My packs.

Other states: No packs are waiting for review / New submissions will show up here.; Public pack publishing is turned off / The review queue stays hidden until publishing is turned on.
